Dedicated to an evocative era of racing at the sport’s top table, GP Icons presented by Goodyear celebrates the 3-litre cars from 1966 to 1985.
It’s a period marked by outrageous designs, legendary drivers, iconic liveries and the unmistakable glory of the Ford Cosworth DFV.
Eligible cars include a broad swathe of the finest Grand Prix racers of all time, from the pioneering 3-litre cars of the late 1960s, through the development of downforce aerodynamics, the revolution of ground effect and the slimline, flat-bottomed races of the mid 1980s. Turbo cars will not be eligible.
The grid will make its debut at the BRDC Classic at Silverstone, held on 24th-26th July. This landmark event provides a fitting stage for the new series to be unveiled.
