U2TC Stands Alone in 2025
Motor Racing Legends’ ever-popular U2TC will return to standalone grids in 2025. The category, celebrating under-2 litre touring cars of the early 1960s, will feature at four weekends across the season with a 40-minute, double-header format.
“We’ve spoken to competitors and their request was clear,” says Pierre-Antoine Lecoutour, CEO of Motor Racing Legends. “They want to race cars equivalent to their own, and celebrate these fantastic tourers on their own grids. This category has always provided incredible racing when given the opportunity, so standalone races are the way forward. We know this kind of car is popular with fans, too, and having two 40-minute races gives spectators more time to enjoy them.”
As part of Motor Racing Legends’ refreshing of the category, a heavy emphasis has been placed on scrutineering and eligibility of cars. The organisers will focus on ensuring a level playing field across the grid, with period specification a key focus.
“Fairness is hugely important in motor racing,” continues Lecoutour. “To that end, era-appropriate cars are the centre of our vision for U2TC, and we’re bringing an increased scrutineering focus to the series.”
The grid will head to four varied circuits: Donington; Snetterton; Navarra; and Silverstone. Each will have its own highlights, but the touring car focus at Motor Racing Legends Snetterton Classic will give the under-2 litre tin tops a big opportunity to shine at the centre of an important race weekend.
“Under-2 litres means under-2 litres, and U2TC will not share a grid in 2025. Our members want to see a celebration of this period of touring car racing, and we do too. When our community speaks, we want to make it clear they’ve been heard,” adds Lecoutour.
