Rewind Tour Britain has marked the anniversary of the original Tour of Britain by confirming that entries for its 2027 event will open from 20th July.

The announcement comes on 6th July, the same date the inaugural Tour of Britain got underway in 1973, providing a timely nod to the event that first brought together stars of stage and circuit in a unique national challenge.

Running from 27th-30th May 2027, Rewind Tour Britain will revive that adventurous format for a new era, combining circuit racing and rallying within one continuous competitive framework for historic cars.

Interest is already building, with more than 100 expressions of interest received ahead of entries opening. Those who have completed an expression of interest will be given a 48-hour priority window from 20th July, during which they will be invited to submit their entry before entries open more widely on 22nd July. Scheduled over three and a half days in May 2027, Rewind Tour Britain will cover around 540 miles (860km), taking competitors on an unforgettable journey across some of the UK’s most iconic motorsport venues. Fast, flowing circuits such as Thruxton and Silverstone’s Grand Prix track will be linked with demanding hillclimbs and special stages at locations ranging from Blenheim Palace to the military ranges of Caerwent and Epynt.

At Silverstone, drivers will relish the chance to tackle Britain’s most famous circuit, before being tested by the unforgiving challenge of the legendary Epynt Ranges – a venue with a habit of catching out even the best rally competitors. And then there’s the jewel in the crown, Blenheim Palace, blending world-class motorsport with the unique atmosphere and hospitality of a World Heritage Site.

This blend of disciplines sits at the heart of Rewind Tour Britain. Can racing drivers master the stages? Will rally drivers prevail across the circuits? The answer will unfold across a route that revives the magic of the great multi-venue British motorsport adventures, connecting spectacular locations via some of the most scenic driving roads. Guided by road book and official pace notes, crews will compete across every discipline, with performance throughout the event determining one overall winner.

Two-wheel-drive historic cars built up to 1986 will be eligible, including a dedicated class for vintage race cars. A demonstration category will also allow retro cars of significant interest that may fall outside the regulations to complete the same route. Competition is expected to be intense across all classes, with battles for class honours complemented by a range of special awards, including prizes for the youngest competitors and the Spirit of the Tour award.
