300+ Legendary Cars, 10 Decades of Motorsport: London Historic Trophy set for Brands Hatch debut.

More than 300 historic racing cars will be at Brands Hatch next weekend as the London Historic Trophy makes its debut from 19-21 June, bringing together 10 decades of motorsport – including pre-war endurance machinery and 1950s sports cars through to touring car heroes, Group C prototypes and landmark Formula 1 icons – in a spectacular celebration of historic motorsport in the circuit’s centenary year.

Organised by Motor Racing Legends, the inaugural event promises three packed days of racing, demonstrations and displays across both the Indy and Grand Prix circuits. With the full provisional entry list now live, including Formula Junior and HRDC races, the weekend is shaping up to be one of the most wide-ranging historic motorsport gatherings of the season.

Spicing Things Up: The Ford Capri Returns

Among the headline entries is a car that helped define a golden era of British saloon racing: the Ford Capri raced with extraordinary success by Gordon Spice. Between 1976 and 1980, Spice secured five consecutive class titles in the British Saloon Car Championship, while the Capri became one of the most competitive touring cars of its time.

With 24 outright victories to its name, the car represents the fierce, door-handle-to-door-handle spirit of touring car racing. Mike Whitaker will race the iconic Capri in the Historic Touring Car Challenge.

A Thousand-Mile Story: Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Zagato Spider

The Pre-War Sports Cars race will bring another jewel to the Brands Hatch paddock: the 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Zagato Spider. Widely regarded as one of the most desirable sporting Alfas of its era, the car combines elegant Zagato coachwork with Alfa Romeo’s advanced engineering and formidable competition pedigree.

Its history includes appearances in the original Mille Miglia in 1932, 1933 and 1934, making it a true icon of pre-war endurance racing. Martin Halusa will take to the track in the Alfa, adding a compelling thousand-mile story to the weekend line-up.

Big Healey Heritage: Austin Healey 3000 Mark II

Adding further 1960s flavour to the weekend is the Austin Healey 3000 Mark II, which will compete in the Pre ’66 GT Sprint race. Famous Monte Carlo Rally winner Paddy Hopkirk raced a very similar car in the 1965 Guards 1000 at Brands Hatch, finishing in 4th place alongside a huge number of MGBs, which will also feature in the Generations Trophy race over the weekend.

Group C Glory Days

One of the loudest and most dramatic chapters in Brands Hatch history will be revived with a dedicated Group C demonstration. Sixteen fire-breathing endurance prototypes are set to appear, celebrating the 1980s machines that turned the circuit’s 1000km races into must-see spectacles.

The line-up includes the Porsche 962-007 Works, one of just two lightweight Rothmans cars built for 1987 and later updated for Le Mans in 1988. Now restored to its original 1987 colours and sprint body, it will provide a striking reminder of the Group C era’s speed, innovation and drama.

Mansell’s Williams FW11 Back in the Spotlight

A landmark car from Brands Hatch’s Formula 1 past will also feature during the London Historic Trophy weekend. The Williams FW11, driven by Nigel Mansell as he crossed the finish line to victory in the final Formula 1 British Grand Prix held at the circuit, stands as one of the defining machines of F1’s turbo era.

Long absent from public view, the car was rediscovered after years of research and a chance encounter. Its return to Brands Hatch pays tribute to one of the most memorable home victories in British Grand Prix history.
