Pouvait-on r\u00eaver d\u2019une meilleure c\u00e9l\u00e9bration pour le \u00ab century of power \u00bb de Brands Hatch ? Plus de 300 voitures, dont certaines ayant marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire du circuit, \u00e9taient r\u00e9unies ce week-end par Motor Racing Legends. M\u00eame la v\u00e9ritable Williams FW11, avec laquelle Nigel Mansell avait remport\u00e9 le Grand Prix d\u2019Angleterre 1986, \u00e9tait l\u00e0 !<\/p>\n

UUne semaine apr\u00e8s les 24 Heures du Mans, quinze voitures du Groupe C ont jou\u00e9 les prolongations.\u00a0<\/span>On y retrouvait notamment une Sauber-Mercedes C9, identique \u00e0 celle qui s\u2019\u00e9tait impos\u00e9e ici en 1989 aux mains de Mauro Baldi et Kenny Acheson. Ce dernier, qui n\u2019avait plus pilot\u00e9 sur un circuit depuis 30 ans, a repris le volant de \u00ab sa \u00bb Fl\u00e8che d\u2019Argent, le temps de deux parades de 20 minutes programm\u00e9es samedi et dimanche \u00e0 l\u2019heure du d\u00e9jeuner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pour le d\u00eener, samedi soir, le paddock a eu droit \u00e0 un tout autre spectacle, avec le concert rock donn\u00e9 par Rick Parfitt Jr. dans l\u2019hospitalit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Deux nouveaux plateaux<\/h4>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 courses, 14 plateaux se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9 en piste, offrant des bagarres spectaculaires diffus\u00e9es en live-streaming \u2013 et toujours disponibles en replay ici<\/a>. Parmi les moments forts, nous retiendrons la premi\u00e8re victoire du duo p\u00e8re-fille Andy et Nicole Wolfe dans le d\u00e9sormais c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Generations Trophy. On se souviendra aussi de la superbe remont\u00e9e de Lukas Halusa sur la Jaguar Type E \u00ab Low Drag \u00bb samedi soir, dans la toute premi\u00e8re course de Pre-\u201966 GT Sprint qui a r\u00e9uni 36 voitures. Seul Mike Whitaker, sur TVR Griffith, lui aura finalement r\u00e9sist\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au drapeau \u00e0 damier. Le plateau 2-Litre Sportscars faisait lui aussi ses grands d\u00e9buts ce week-end. Disput\u00e9e dimanche, la course d\u2019une heure a \u00e9t\u00e9 remport\u00e9e par Chris Ward au volant d\u2019une Lola.<\/p>\n

Hommage \u00e0 Guy Edwards<\/h4>\n

Samedi, le paddock a rendu hommage \u00e0 Guy Edwards, d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 la veille \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 83 ans. Deux de ses anciennes voitures participaient au 2-Litre Sportscars : la Lola T296, avec laquelle il avait remport\u00e9 la derni\u00e8re manche du Championnat du monde des voitures de sport 1977 en cat\u00e9gorie 2 litres, au Salzburgring, en compagnie de Ray Mallock ; et la Lola T292, au volant de laquelle il s\u2019\u00e9tait impos\u00e9 \u00e0 trois reprises dans le Championnat d\u2019Europe des sports-prototypes 2 litres en 1973, notamment \u00e0 Charade dans le cadre des Troph\u00e9es d\u2019Auvergne\u2026<\/p>\n

Prochain rendez-vous : Charade<\/h4>\n

Des Troph\u00e9es d\u2019Auvergne qui rena\u00eetront dans trois semaines, sous l\u2019impulsion de Motor Racing Legends \u2013 et avec l\u2019autorisation de l\u2019ASACA (Association sportive de l\u2019Automobile Club d\u2019Auvergne). De l\u2019endurance au tourisme, en passant par la Formule 1, toutes les disciplines ayant marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire du circuit seront en piste pour ce premier meeting organis\u00e9 par MRL sur le sol fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Je n\u2019\u00e9tais pas particuli\u00e8rement rapide. Pour ma d\u00e9fense, je dois dire qu\u2019hier marquait mon retour sur un circuit apr\u00e8s 30 ans d\u2019absence. Honn\u00eatement, tout m\u2019a sembl\u00e9 assez naturel. C\u2019est surprenant de voir combien de personnes sont venues me voir en me disant qu\u2019elles \u00e9taient ici \u00e0 Brands Hatch en 1989 ou \u00e0 mes premi\u00e8res 24 Heures du Mans la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e. Elles m\u2019ont demand\u00e9 ce que cela me faisait et quels souvenirs j\u2019en avais gard\u00e9s mais, en v\u00e9rit\u00e9, je ne m\u2019en souviens pas de grand-chose. Je me sens tr\u00e8s privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre ici, et je suis reconnaissant envers MRL d\u2019avoir amen\u00e9 la voiture. \u00ab Nous avions 400 voitures en piste \u00e0 Donington le mois dernier, et 300 ce week-end. Pour la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition du London Historic Trophy, c\u2019est vraiment satisfaisant. Tout le travail que nous avons men\u00e9 depuis deux ans commence \u00e0 porter ses fruits. Nos \u00e9quipes sont d\u00e9sormais rod\u00e9es, dans tous les domaines, et nous n\u2019avons que de bons retours de nos concurrents. Nous sommes heureux de l\u2019\u00e9quilibre que nous avons trouv\u00e9 entre une approche s\u00e9rieuse de l\u2019aspect sportif et technique, et une gestion d\u00e9contract\u00e9e en dehors.
