Il s\u2019agit bien du ch\u00e2ssis avec lequel Nigel Mansell avait franchi la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e en vainqueur, lors du tout dernier Grand Prix de Grande-Bretagne de Formule 1 jamais disput\u00e9 \u00e0 Brands Hatch. La Williams-Honda FW11 est l\u2019une des monoplaces les plus importantes et les plus marquantes de l\u2019\u00e8re turbo en Formule 1. Disparue de la sc\u00e8ne publique pendant des d\u00e9cennies, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 red\u00e9couverte apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es de recherches et une rencontre fortuite tout \u00e0 fait extraordinaire.<\/p>\n

L\u2019une des courses les plus \u00e9mouvantes de l\u2019histoire<\/span><\/h4>\n

Le 13 juillet 1986, devant une affluence record, plus de 150 000 spectateurs, Nigel Mansell avait livr\u00e9 la course qui fit de lui un h\u00e9ros national. Au volant du mulet (voiture de rechange) de Nelson Piquet, qualifi\u00e9 en deuxi\u00e8me position et priv\u00e9 de l\u2019usage de sa gourde d\u2019eau, Mansell avait r\u00e9alis\u00e9 la course de sa vie. Sous une chaleur \u00e9touffante, il avait r\u00e9sist\u00e9 \u00e0 la pression incessante d\u2019Ayrton Senna (Lotus-Renault) et de Keke Rosberg (McLaren-TAG), ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 celle de son co-\u00e9quipier et plus grand rival, Nelson Piquet, pour d\u00e9crocher sa toute premi\u00e8re victoire \u00e0 domicile.<\/p>\n

Cette course marquait le dernier Grand Prix du Championnat du monde de Formule 1 disput\u00e9 \u00e0 Brands Hatch, ainsi que la premi\u00e8re apparition de Frank Williams sur un week-end de course depuis le grave accident de la route qui avait boulevers\u00e9 sa vie quelques mois plus t\u00f4t.
