In summer 2026, Silverstone welcomes the inaugural BRDC Classic, a new event celebrating historic racing cars. Along with several other Motor Racing Legends series, it will host the debut of two all-new grids: GP Icons and Endurance Icons. The event’s full programme will be released soon.

Silverstone is the legendary home of the British Grand Prix on both two and four wheels. Opened in 1948, having been an RAF base in the Second World War, it hosted the very first Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix in 1950 – a race won by Giuseppe Farina. Since then, it has remained a cornerstone of international motorsport, witnessing the triumphs of legends like Jim Clark, Nigel Mansell, Lewis Hamilton, and many more.

Its origins as an airbase are still readily apparent in the flat terrain and criss-cross service roads, but the circuit has undergone several evolutions over the years. In the 1980s it was particularly fearsome, a blisteringly fast track that was, for many years, holder of the record for the fastest ever F1 lap. Keke Rosberg achieved a staggering average speed just over 160mph on his way to pole position for the 1985 British Grand Prix.

The current 5.891-kilometre Grand Prix layout blends iconic high-speed corners like Copse, Maggotts and Stowe with newer technical sections on the infield, challenging both driver and machine at every turn. It is spectacular for high-performance cars like those in GP Icons, but lends itself equally to cut-and-thrust slipstreaming battles in the likes of Generations Trophy’s MGB.
